Blur the Barriers Between Your Home and Nature

If you have a gorgeous outdoor area outside of your home, the last thing you want to do is shut your home off to it

If you have a gorgeous outdoor area outside of your home, the last thing you want to do is shut your home off to it. How do you prevent this from happening? By blurring the barriers between your home and the nature outside your home using the following outdoor area ideas:

  • Courtyard – A courtyard is like an outdoor area that is enclosed by the surrounding architecture of your home. It’s a great option for warmer climates since you’ll have a natural ventilation chimney as well as shade from your home.
  • Porch – A porch will offer you protection from the elements while offering a clear view of the outdoors. Porches can be designed in numerous ways, from being fully enclosed to partially enclosed to completely open.
  • Pergola – A pergola is similar to a porch except that it doesn’t offer as much protection from the elements. A pergola uses a roof that allows sunlight to pour through instead of blocking it off. It’s a great way to provide shade without eliminating sunlight.

These are a few ideas for opening your home up to the outdoors. For a design build firm in Seattle, contact us at Conner Remodeling & Design.
