Tips for Merging Different Styles in a Remodel

It isn't impossible to merge different styles during a remodel - you just have to be mindful during the process. Use these tips.

Remodeling your home gives you a chance to update your style to one that suits you. Unfortunately, many homes already have a style that you’ll need to work with if you’re not going to do a total tear-down. However, it isn’t impossible to merge different styles during a remodel – you just have to be mindful during the process. Use these tips from Conner Remodeling & Design:

  • Work traditional elements into your design with up-to-date materials. A butcher block island or natural stone counters will work in almost every type of home. Think about what’s universal and how you can implement that into your house.
  • Add touches and flourishes that will work in any space. These include items like copper pulls or burnished bronze faucets. They are modern and classic, suiting any style of home.
  • Allow for a bit of contrast. If you have a traditional home you might think it’s strange to put in stainless steel appliances. That glass-door refrigerator can be a wonderful contrast that’s unexpected and exciting.
