45 Years of Seattle Remodeling
From Conner Remodeling to CRD Design Build
CRD Design Build traces its roots to 1980, when founder Denny Conner began remodeling Seattle homes under the name Conner Remodeling and Design. Over the following decades, the company earned a reputation for careful craftsmanship and honest service, and in the early 1990s it became one of the first remodeling firms in Seattle to adopt the design-build approach, bringing designers and builders together under one roof so homeowners could work with a single, accountable team from first sketch to final walkthrough. As the company grew, Conner Remodeling and Design became CRD Design Build, the name Seattle homeowners know today, along with the promise behind it: Don’t Live with It. Love It.®
A Woman-Owned Business Built on Strength and Vision
In 2022, ownership passed to Teri and Michael McDermott. Teri had served as CRD’s operations manager for more than a decade and brought a deep understanding of both the business and the client experience. Following Michael’s passing in 2024, Teri has continued to lead the company as a woman-owned business, with strength and vision.
45 Years In, the Same Mission
Today, CRD is a team of 23 designers, project managers, and craftspeople, including a licensed architect and NCIDQ-certified interior designers. The company’s work has been recognized with multiple Remodeling Excellence (REX) Awards from the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, Best of Houzz and GuildQuality honors, Built Green certification, and a 2025 Regional Chrysalis Award for kitchen remodeling. Four and a half decades in, the mission remains the one it started with: helping Seattle families love the homes they already have.
