Fremont Modern Townhome Kitchen and Bath

Portfolio

The urban treehouse - transforming an industrial townhome's kitchen and bath.

Remodeling a townhome presents unique challenges not typically found in detached homes. This was especially true for this Fremont project, which boasts Pacific Northwest modernism, concrete and steel construction, and soaring windows.

Project Goals:

  • Align the kitchen and guest bath with the home’s “treehouse” aesthetic.
  • Refresh dated finishes with a curated mix of modern materials and textures.
  • Optimize the kitchen layout for seamless entertaining and daily flow.
  • Integrate high-end, low-maintenance features that withstand everyday use.

The Challenge: Every structural hurdle provided an opportunity for the design team to innovate. We navigated the specific constraints of the concrete and steel frame while ensuring our work felt like a natural extension of the original architecture. Matching the scale and quality of the home’s soaring details required meticulous planning and expert craftsmanship.

The Solution: We leaned into the home’s modernist roots by selecting materials that feel both natural and contemporary. In the kitchen, we installed custom cabinetry, a dedicated coffee center, and a bespoke built-in dining banquet, creating a gathering space that enhances the open-concept flow without interrupting it.

The guest bathroom was reimagined as a “jewel box” of luxury, featuring bold upgrades that deliver high-style impact without demanding constant upkeep. A deep soaking tub, clad in vein-matched quartz slabs with a functional ledge, makes every use a spa-like experience. By prioritizing innovative storage and durable surfaces, we ensured these rooms are as functional as they are beautiful.
