Green Lake Kitchen & Addition 

Having previously updated their laundry room in 2019, we were honored to partner with these repeat clients to reimagine their home. By identifying what’s not working for this family of four, we delivered an efficient, high-functioning – and larger! – environment tailored to the needs of an active young family. 

Project Goals:  

• Modernize the kitchen with a tailored custom cabinet package, durable countertops, lighting, and new appliances. 

• Expand the family room footprint while maintaining the backyard. 

• Create specialized storage for collections, board games, and gaming consoles. 

• Enhance the connection between the indoor living space and the backyard play area. 

The Challenge: While the original kitchen had a decent footprint, it lacked the smart storage required by a family that loves to bake and cook together. The family room also struggled to house a growing collection of toys, crafts, and gaming gear. Furthermore, an unused covered back porch was taking up valuable square footage that the family desperately needed. 

The Solution: We maximized every inch of the home’s layout, starting with a kitchen designed for collaborative cooking. Because the space wasn’t wide enough for a permanent island, we engineered a unique “mobile island” solution: a pair of custom rolling pantry cabinets that tuck under the staircase and roll out whenever extra prep space is needed. 

The family room underwent a major transformation by enclosing the porch area, now featuring large sliding glass doors and windows that flood the room with natural light. We installed an expansive wall of full-height cabinetry that balances adult needs (coffee mugs and glassware) with “kid-height” storage for easy access to puzzles and toys. A one-of-a-kind audiovisual wall was designed to display gaming consoles while neatly hiding a secondary TV behind doors. 

Finally, the backyard was upgraded with a new deck large enough to entertain that connects directly to the children’s playhouse, creating a seamless transition for outdoor living.
