One of the things we love most about this work is that no two projects are ever the same. Every Seattle home has its own history, its own quirks, and its own family living inside it — and every remodel we take on reflects that. From a century-old Craftsman in Capitol Hill to a concrete-and-steel townhome in Fremont, the projects we’ve been completing lately are a great reminder of just how varied and rewarding this work can be.
Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to.
New Remodels from CRD Design Build
Green Lake Kitchen & Addition
Some of our favorite projects start with a family that has outgrown their home—not by moving, but by living more fully in it. That was the case for this Green Lake kitchen and family room addition, where repeat clients came back to us with a clear vision: they wanted a home that could keep up with their growing family.

The kitchen needed smarter storage, a better workflow for collaborative cooking and baking, and a design that could handle the chaos of two young kids underfoot. Because the space wasn’t wide enough for a permanent island, we engineered a custom rolling pantry solution: two cabinet units on heavy-duty casters that tuck under the staircase behind clean white shaker doors and roll out whenever extra prep space or pantry access is needed. It’s a genuinely clever fix for a genuinely common Seattle kitchen challenge!

Beyond the kitchen, we enclosed an underutilized covered porch to create a new family room addition, complete with large sliding glass doors, a full wall of custom cabinetry sized for both adults and kids, and a one-of-a-kind audiovisual wall that hides a secondary TV behind cabinet doors. A new deck connects the home directly to the children’s backyard playhouse, making indoor-outdoor flow seamless.

This project is a great example of what happens when a design-build team listens carefully and then goes to work on every inch of a home instead of just the obvious spaces.
Stevens/North Capitol Hill Addition
There’s a particular kind of satisfaction that comes with a project like this one… where the intervention is small, precise, and perfectly matched to the home it’s part of!

This North Capitol Hill mudroom addition began with a 1908 Craftsman home tucked between Volunteer Park and the Arboretum. The home had a beautiful wraparound porch that looked the part, but wasn’t pulling its weight. Our team captured a section of that exterior porch space to create a formal mudroom entry. We also made sure that every detail, from the exterior siding and trim to the interior cased opening, looked like it had always been part of the original structure.

Inside, the new mudroom functions as a proper landing zone for a Seattle household: durable tiled flooring built to handle muddy boots and wet umbrellas, custom cabinetry designed for maximum efficiency in a compact footprint, and a new window that keeps the small space from ever feeling tight. The result is a bright, airy entry that earns its place in a home that was built over 100 years ago.
This is exactly the kind of addition that makes a home more livable without changing what makes it special.
Fremont Modern Townhome Kitchen & Bath
Not every project we take on is a traditional Seattle single-family home. That variety is something we genuinely embrace! This Fremont townhome kitchen and bath remodel is one of the more architecturally distinctive projects we’ve completed recently: a concrete-and-steel construction with soaring windows and a Pacific Northwest modernist sensibility that earned its nickname, the “urban treehouse,” many times over.

The challenge here was honoring the home’s bold architectural character while updating finishes and functionality that had fallen behind. In the kitchen, we installed custom cabinetry, a dedicated coffee center, and a bespoke built-in dining banquette that enhances the open-concept layout without interrupting its flow. Every material choice was made to feel simultaneously natural and contemporary, a balance that’s harder to achieve than it sounds.

The guest bathroom received an equally thoughtful transformation, reimagined as a jewel box of understated luxury. The centerpiece is a deep soaking tub clad in vein-matched quartz slabs with a functional ledge. It’s the perfect spa-like experience designed for everyday use. By prioritizing durable, low-maintenance surfaces throughout, our team created spaces that are as practical as they are beautiful.
This project was a reminder that remodeling isn’t always about adding square footage—sometimes it’s about elevating what’s already there!
Fremont Powder Room
Good things really do come in small packages—and this Fremont guest bathroom is proof.
This project came to us through a connection we love: the homeowners had watched a close relative do a remodel with CRD and decided they wanted the same experience for their own home! The bathroom itself is one of the smallest footprints we’ve ever worked with, but the homeowners’ vision for it was anything but small. They had already remodeled their kitchen in an eclectic, adventurous style and wanted the bathroom to carry that same spirited energy: bold, whimsical, and entirely their own.

The challenge was technical as much as aesthetic. A previous leak had prompted a DIY repair attempt that stalled mid-project, and the real puzzle was fitting a modern walk-in shower into a footprint that didn’t seem to have room for one. Designer Magan Bouriot used precision space planning to make it work by configuring the layout so the shower feels generous without the room feeling cramped. From there, the design leaned fully into the clients’ personality: a bold palette, layered textures, and creative material choices that reflect the spirited character of the Fremont neighborhood.
The result is a polished, whimsical retreat that functions perfectly as both a daily bathroom and a guest space.

Every project in this roundup started the same way: a homeowner with a vision, a home with untapped potential, and a design-build team ready to figure it out together. If your home has a space that isn’t working the way it should (or a project you’ve been putting off) we’d love to hear about it.
