Podcast Ep 118: An Interview With Past Client Kate

Untitled design (1)Embark on an insightful journey with us as we sit down with Kate, a former client of CRD Design Build, who generously shares her experiences during a significant Seattle home remodel in 2023. In this podcast episode, we delve deep into the intricacies of Kate's Bryant area remodeling journey, exploring the highs and lows and extracting valuable lessons for anyone contemplating a home renovation.

The CRD Difference

Kate's firsthand account sheds light on the distinctive qualities that sets CRD Design Build apart. From the initial concept to the final touches, Kate walks us through her collaboration with CRD, emphasizing the company's commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. Discover how CRD's approach goes beyond mere construction, creating a partnership that ensures clients feel heard and valued throughout the remodeling process.

Relationship with the Interior Designer

Shortly after Kate found CRD she was paired with Amy Moore, CRD's Senior Interior Designer. They met every week over Zoom to navigate the design process, (we can meet with our clients in person and over Zoom). A close and comfortable relationship with your Interior Designer is essential to bringing your dreams to reality during a remodel. In general, interior designers are professionals who specialize in the art and science of planning spaces (both inside and out) that address the safety and well-being of occupants.

"I'm probably the most satisfied client CRD has." - Kate

Interior designers range in education, licenses, skills, and experience. Amy Moore has over 20+ years in the field. Kate and Amy were originally planning to do the kitchen and the basement separately. Amy suggested merging both projects together as her experience demonstrated this would save Kate a significant amount of money and time. At CRD, we prioritize helping our clients achieve the home they love for a price they can afford. It would be more cost-effective for Kate to complete these projects at the same time as materials and labor are only increasing in cost and doing both projects would allow Kate to have more time in the future to enjoy her home.

"Once we got paired, it just seemed kind of smooth and seamless after that." - Kate

The Design process and problems

It's necessary to work with a designer you can trust to uphold your dreams as the project shifts with unexpected problems. Kate had multiple unexpected problems appear and our team was able to fix these quickly while keeping her budget and original timeline in mind.

“There's always problems and weird things that can strain you and I feel if I didn't have my team with me I might have just spun out." - Kate

Since we're a design-build company, we have stellar conversations that include the design and build processes all at once. Our level of planning and teamwork is what allows us to predict reliable estimates for the construction steps, budget, and timeline your remodel will need. Kate met with her designer over Zoom every week, and then the meetings started to include more designers, a project manager, and her production team. Kate was able to have dependable and transparent conversations about her CRD remodel because everyone who touches the project is encouraged to voice their insight and advice while the planning process is going.

Production

Kate was able to smoothly transition from design to production since we provide a full design-build service unlike the other companies she received advice and estimates from.

“One of the things that I’ve really loved about CRD is the apparent, mutual respect and regard for all the team members and it really makes you feel good when you feel like you’re working with a team … [that] really really hold each other in high regard and make you feel like you’re being taken care of.”

Kate continued to live at home while her Seattle kitchen and basement were under construction. Kate was able to live at home due to our high standards surrounding communication and relationship building. We provided accurate and practical timelines of the remodeling process, clearly communicated when someone would enter her home during production and our team focused on building a positive relationship with Kate so she would feel comfortable being in close contact with the production team on a daily basis.
